The name Croughton means 'a farm between two streams'. It was an inhabited neighbourhood at least 2000 years ago, the earliest records of primaeval man left are the earthworks and the implements and weapons found burried in them. Today Croughton is home to the United States 630th Communications Squandron based at RAF Croughton.
